Squally conditions affected this race in more than one dimension on Sunday morning.
As the start time approached, Race Organiser, Doug Collins, changed the proposed combination of Staple Hill / Kitsmead Lane circuits, with a potentially processional 16 laps of the triangular Accommodation Road route due to safety concerns.
27 riders signed-on, and from the off, Paul Holdsworth hit the nail & broke away (yes, again!), and despite being caught, was prominent throughout, as was his favourite sparring partner, Lewis Atkins. As the race progressed, more & more riders suffered deflations of either spirit, or tyre, and Neil Bradford found himself unable to continue the fight, leaving the race split over 3 groups on the road.
Wildside's Jason Edwards took the win from Andy Davies riding for Fit-For, with privateer Jason White competing the podium.
Perseverance was the keyword for the likes of Bill Butterworth & Harry Webb, whose efforts were rewarded with 13th & 14th places respectively - Chapeau Guys, the conditions were horrible!
Paul Holdsworth's 5th position leaves him in 3rd place in the series overall, behind the lively Jason White, who is a meagre 1 point adrift of last weeks winner Steve Golla, so all to play for next week.
Thanks to those who braved the elements to came along & helped out.
Corrine Hall kept up her winning ways at Sunday's race hosted by the San Fairy Ann CC near Marden, Kent, taking the spoils.
