The Twickenham Cycling ClubNow in their 115th Year, Twickenham Cycling Club have an active membership that participates in many cycling disciplines, ranging from Track, Time-Trials and Road Racing with our Olympic Development Program riders benefiting from coach Mac’s training days, through to successful Paris-Brest-Paris Audaxers! We are proud to have a women’s team participating in the Team Series who over the years have shown a great team ethos and desire to succeed. Having achieved 3rd place in last year’s competition, we look forward to continuing the momentum whilst enjoying ourselves along the way with the help and support of our club members and Coach Mac. We also have a strong annual promotional diary that includes organising events at national level, several Surrey League events and more recently “The Surrey Rumble” CycloSportif. In the Club’s history, it can boast members and ex members that have been national, international and world champions, including in recent years, Dave Nie, Spencer Smith and Roger Hammond. The Club’s eldest active member, Ken Ryall, celebrates 75 continuous years with the Club, having joined in 1933. Ken remembers with pride some of the positions he held in cycling, including being England Team Manager in 1959, for the tour of Sweden and 1st Team Driver for the Tour de France in 1967. During the 1960’s the talismanic Doug Collins was picked for several International events. At Twickenham, we are proud to be part of a club that promotes and takes part in cycling from grass roots through to national level. We can only do this through our member’s ‘have a go’ attitude, which is good for the club and the sport. For further details, please visit: www.twickenhamcc.co.uk
Welcome to our GuestsWe are pleased to welcome you all to Windlesham and hope you are all looking forward to an exciting event. When we heard of the cancellation of the Stratford round of this years Women’s Team series event, we decided to offer our support to the series by rejuvenating this date on the calendar to promote this event. It has meant significant effort to enable this to happen in two months but we hope the day will be successful enough for us to promote a team series event again next year. We wish to thank the myriad people who have helped to make this event achievable from both within and outside the club. We have a top quality entry to this event and look forward to some exciting racing. The initial competition leaders, Surrey League, faced a serious challenge from Team Swift at Bedford after their members took the top 3 places. Some heavy points hauls also came from Team QCP, Pinarello and last year’s victors - Luciano, keep the competition hot at this early stage of the season. Team Swift and Pinarello are not entered in this race, which leaves the competition wide open so we may see a change in the Team Standings. Thank you for supporting our event & we hope you have a greatday.
