Central Region Cyclo-Cross League 2008/09Go-Ride Club Trophy & Go-Ride School TrophyBuilding on British Cycling’s success at the Beijing Olympics we’re on the lookout for the next generation of young riders. Cyclo-Cross is an off road bike race over a circuit around 2-3 miles long and covers a variety of terrain, including natural and man-made obstacles. It is fast and furious with races lasting 30 mins for U16s and an hour for Senior & Elite riders. A shorter simpler course is set up for U8s, U10s, and U12s who race for 15 mins. Experienced riders use a special cyclo-cross bike which is basically a road racing machine with knobbly tyres, however you can use a normal mountain bike - there are special prizes for those on Mountain Bikes. There’s a race near you. It’s great fun just to take part.
