Time trial wheels - any tips?

Hi all,

Well looks fairly likely that this year I'm going to be focussing on time trials - though admittedly I'm going to be doing these on my road bike. Now I'd like to aim to get some fancy wheels around the end of the year for this - so by the time I'm ready to get them - I've got a pretty good idea as to what to go for.

Ideally I'd love to go with a disc with a deep dish in the front - but really that's only driven by the fact that discs sound so cool, and deep dished rims look cool.

It seems that Planet X do a few super deep dishes - at pretty good prices, and ZIPPs are obviously dominating the scene - but they're not especially cheap (though Stuart Stow has mentioned he's starting to deal with them if anyone's interested!).

So would be interested in any tips you've got - any experiences positive or negative.

For example are discs discs discs - or is there a world of difference between a zipp sub 9, and a much more pocket friendly Renn?

Would be keen on hearing your advice!
